The park includes 2.6 million acres owned by the State of New York and 3.4 million acres designated for forestry, agriculture and open space recreation. The Adirondack Park is not a National Park but is the largest National Historic Landmark in the United States, and covers an area larger than the combined areas of Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier, and the Great Smokies National Parks.
