About
About The Project
We get so caught up in our work, obligations, and duties that the truly important parts of us become lost. From there it is a downward spiral as we get increasingly distant from our true self. Eventually a crisis develops that awakens us to the realization that we are no longer our true self. It is at this time that we should (must) go on walkabout to get life back in order.
We Leave Things Behind & Begin a Journey
The journey continues until we meet up with our true self. We engage our true self in an examination about what each has learned, felt, and experienced in the absence of the other. This self examination will ultimately result in reuniting with our true self and we becoming one again.
This project, Walkabout Chronicles, is about this process, in whole or in part. No matter where we are in our lives, we are on a journey. At some point in that journey we seek ways to be more awake, more aware, and more authentic to our soul. We strive to understand ourselves through our relationships with the world around us - its seasons and landscapes, its people and plants, its machinery and widgets.
We are glad that your walkabout in life has brought you to us. We hope you are able to find inspiration and support, while simultaneously providing that to others. We hope you find value in this place for connection, community, creativity, and learning. And we hope those experiences bring you back here often.
About Us
Together, we are on a walkabout. Our walkabouts have been our way to unearth our own story, our creative selves, our expanded view of the world and our lives, and even our souls. Traveling around our world, across great distance or even close to home, has provided us wonderful opportunities to see and experience our world through new eyes and the lens of a camera. We hope that our words and pictures offer something helpful to you.
About Liane Benedict...
I am a girl on a journey. I am embracing the journey in new ways every day. What I have learned is that everything that matters comes down to relationships. Our connections with others, our world and, most importantly, ourselves determines the kind of life we live. My life work has always been about supporting the growth and learning of others. The more I have learned about myself and my own journey, the more I am able to offer and share with others. Recently my work as a professional developer, facilitator and a cognitive coach have allowed me to support the learning of fellow educators. I am grateful that opportunities to support and grow with others continue to take form in my life in a variety of ways. Simplifying, traveling and experiencing my world is what I will continue to do. I am most blessed to be able to experience this with my soulmate. My journey with him has taught me the most about myself and the true meaning of love and connection that endures all things.
About Steven J. Tryon...
I am, most recently, a person walking through chaos. All of the things I ever believed about life and how the world of my present and future would look have been called into question. Most of those beliefs have been forced to change. I reacted by retreating. But while occupying that dark space, I discovered my soul mate. She taught me that retreat wasn't a solution. And so I ventured forward, keeping the world somewhat at bay by viewing it through a camera lens. Those experiences have helped me to see the world differently and opened my thinking to the remarkable and rewarding experiences that my previous self would have never known. I am evolving. I hope that my photographs and the words I find to accompany them bring you some insight to new ways of thinking and being in your own world.
